As a member of the EXCO, the Senior HR Manager will provide strategic HR direction across the organization, ensuring that people practices drive operational success. You’ll oversee the entire HR department—including the HR Manager and HR Assistants—while championing performance, compliance, and culture.
This role also requires expertise in payroll systems and processes, as you’ll be responsible for reviewing and approving payroll submissions from the HR Manager, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
🔍 Key Responsibilities
* Set and execute HR strategy aligned with business and production goals
* Lead and mentor the HR team, ensuring cohesive and high-performing operations
* Develop and monitor HR KPIs to measure impact and drive continuous improvement
* Design and implement robust performance management systems
* Oversee training and development programs that upskill and empower staff
* Review and approve payroll submissions, ensuring accuracy and legislative compliance
* Manage recruitment, onboarding, and retention of skilled personnel
* Navigate complex IR/ER matters and union relations with confidence
* Ensure full compliance with South African labour legislation and HR best practices
* Contribute to EXCO-level decision-making with data-driven HR insights
🎯 Ideal Candidate
* Degree in HR Management, Industrial Psychology, or related field (Honours preferred)
* 10+ years’ HR experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role within manufacturing
* Proven experience in strategic HR planning and EXCO-level engagement
* Strong understanding of HR metrics, payroll systems, and performance frameworks
* Skilled in training, development, and change management
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
